• Edit the inheritance status of the attributes you choose when creating or editing a Product Family •
We have expanded the Product Families feature to be a resource beyond grouping similar product types together. Now, you can also use Product Families to manage which attribute values are automatically inherited from the parent to its variants—by simply turning the inheritance status on for the attributes you choose when creating or editing a Product Family.
Check out the video below for a full overview of this new update. ⬇️
Here are a few additional things to look out for with the update of Product Families:
-
Product Overview Page
Remember when you used filters to view only parents or variants? We’ve simplified this by adding a dropdown selector so you can choose your preferred view: all products, parents and singles, or variants and singles.
We have also added more information about the attributes when you have chosen a family in the family selector; now you can view which attributes are out of the family and which ones are being inherited from parents to variants.
-
Product Detail Page
We have added new tags so that you can easily view which attributes are inherited from the parent and which ones have been overwritten with unique variant values.
-
Importing
Assign products to families directly in your CSV! After you’ve created your families in the PIM, you can either assign products to families manually or import a CSV with a family column.
-
Settings
Attributes Settings
We added a new bulk edit option in Attributes Settings. Select multiple attributes and add them to multiple families at a time.
Families Settings
After creating a product family, set the attribute inheritance ON or OFF to determine if the attribute value should be copied from the parent to its variants.
